DeKalb, IL…If you or someone you know has been thinking about becoming a citizen of the United States, State Representative Bob Pritchard (R-Hinckley) is hosting a workshop to help with the application. The workshop is being held in conjunction with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and its partners. Volunteers from various organizations will be on hand to help assist applicants in completing the necessary forms and documents. There will also be information on Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA).
The workshop will be held at Conexion Comunidad in DeKalb on Saturday January 16th beginning at 9:30 a.m. and running until everyone has been helped. To be eligible for citizenship you must be a legal permanent resident of the United States for at least 5 years, or if married to a U.S. citizen, for 3 years. Applicants are advised to bring required documents with them to the workshop.
